Time to Regroup & Refocus.

It’s almost that time of the week…half way there.  I am super pumped for this weekend.  Not only am I running my first race since my last half-marathon in February, but we are headed to Athens to see the Bulldogs play.  Basically, that means I have to run a quick 5K and get my butt home and in the shower ASAP…it’s a 12:30 game!  But that’s alright…we will make it in time to tailgate for an hour or so and then we can hit downtown Athens after the game.  This game is a way for us to celebrate a friend’s birthday…so I can’t wait for Saturday.

Since this is my first race in 7 months, you can guess what I haven’t been doing…if you guessed running, I’m buying you a cheeseburger.  The last time I hit the pavement was about a month ago.  So yeah, this oughta be an interesting race.  I did come home from work today and decided I would get at least 3 miles in to make sure I wouldn’t actually die on Saturday.  I made 3.17 miles.  But I won’t tell you my time.

photo (33)

It wasn’t terrible but definitely not what I’m used to.  I have a feeling, though, that I’ll get my butt in gear on Saturday.  Races always push you a little harder.

Speaking of races, it really is time to get my butt in gear.  I have a 5K this weekend, the Pretty Muddy Mud Run in October, and then a half-marathon in November.  Yep…it’s time to start training…I’m totally behind.  I guess I keep thinking that since I’ve done it twice before, I can do it again.  But what I’ve found out about running is once you stop, or slow down, it’s hard as HELL to get yourself back together.  I really hope the 5K this weekend will give me the motivation to start getting some long runs in.  Otherwise, the Savannah half is going to be a comical disaster…

Last night I taught Spin30…here’s my playlist and what I looked like aftewards:

photo (4)photo (51)Not that you necessarily care what I looked like afterwards…I just have a thing about pictures.  And I wanted to prove that I sweat like an overweight football player.

By the way, I have started posting updates to my Spinning page on the blog so check it out from time to time for playlists and routines.  I’ll leave you with this flattering photo…this is how I decided to relax after work, running, and dinner. A little homemade wine while sitting in the bed ain’t never hurt nobody 😉

photo (34)How did you relax tonight?  And if you didn’t, make a date for yourself this week!

Weekend Roundup

This was a post I had planned for yesterday but considering our computer was severely testing my patience, I gave up!  So happy Monday everybody.  Here’s a recap of our weekend…

photo (31)

Birthday girl is bottom right in the black shirt.

Friday night involved a surprise 30th birthday party for a coworker.  Her husband and 2 of our coworkers had this all planned out and they did a phenomenal job at keeping the entire thing a secret.  The birthday girl’s sister and niece from New Hampshire came and surprised her as well!  She was absolutely shocked.

The party included a DJ which meant I had to show off my skills…

PicFrameWhy must all of these pictures capture me in the most awkward poses?

Oh well…that’s me.

photo (32)

photo (30)I have absolutely no idea what song we were singing but we were obviously pumped.  Matt didn’t make it to the party, unfortunately, because he had to work late and after a 12-13 hour day, I can’t blame him for staying in to get some rest.  Saturday, we were up and at it to go see my cousin play in a volleyball tournament and then we headed to another cousin’s baseball tournament.  It was a day full of family time and sports and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

photo (29)

Havird is #1 because well, it’s obvious, he’s #1 🙂

photo (28)After the festivities, Matt and I headed home for a nap.  We had plans to go to his buddy’s house and watch some football but honestly, we were pooped.  After a short nap, we decided we were going to lounge around all night and do absolutely nothing.  I even had a going-away party to attend for a former class mate and I never made it.  We had other friends invite us out.  But we just decided we needed a break.  We don’t take those very often and it was definitely necessary at this point.  And to be honest, I felt amazing when I got up for church yesterday.  We literally laid in bed and slept on and off for like 12 hours.  It was awesome.  And I feel really rejuvenated and ready to take on the week.

Well, it’s time to get in the game and tackle the workday.  I’m teaching Spin30 tonight and going CostCoing…yay!  😉  Hope you guys have a great Monday…did anyone else decide to give themselves a break over the weekend?

What I Love About September.

I feel like it’s been forever, guys.  Sorry, I have been working my butt off.  Not as in working out but as in actual job-work. In our little city, September brings fall, football, and good ol’ Aiken’s Makin’, a giant 2-day craft show.  In my last post, I discussed going to RPM Friday morning and not drinking margaritas…well I only drank one margarita but since I had to be at work at 7 am the next morning, RPM was a no-go.  My employer sponsors a kids’ activity section at the craft show so I was there both Friday and Saturday.  No, I wasn’t in the office and that was totally awesome.  But I was in the heat for 2 days and doing some physical labor which can totally kick your butt.  I did, however, get to take in some of the scenery…

photo (22)

Yes, I totally had a corn dog at 10:30 Saturday morning…how could you not?!

photo (21)On Saturday, I was able to get a bit of a break and Mrs. Presley and her stud muffin met up with me for some fun…

photo (23)

Wait, no, that’s not her stud muffin. Just some random at the ATM…I just thought it was funny.

photo (24)Pizza time!  I was totally grateful for this break.  It rejuvenated me and got me through the rest of the day.  The Georgia-Carolina game came on at 4:30 so you betta believe I made sure I was home by then.  I got home, got dressed, and we went to a friend’s house.  This game day get together included the parents too.

photo (25)

Dad, Megan, & Me

We had an awesome night.  The Dawgs pulled out the W and we celebrated (maybe a little too much).  I also gotta show off my awesome new koozie that Megan got me…

photo (20)I don’t know if you can tell but uhhhh, this thing is sparklin’ something serious.

Yesterday, I seriously laid (lied?) in bed until 1:30 pm.  All of the exhaustion from work and playing over the weekend totally kicked my butt.  Sometimes you just really have to rest and be lazy.  After a day of doing nothing, it was time for one of my other favorite things about September…

photo (26)Yes sir!  Nucky is back!  We love this show.

Today, I had such a hard day…

photo (19)Ha, totally kidding.  September also brings about work golf events.  So I sat at Hole #18 for 5 hours while schmoozing and handing out marketing goodies. Some days, my job can be so awesome.

I taught Spin 30 tonight and came home to my hubs cooking dinner.  Thank. You.  This girl was hungry.  Now we are watching Life of Pi so I gotta run to catch the end.  I’ll post my playlist tomorrow.  What do you love about September?

Oh!  One more thing…tomorrow is our 2 year wedding anniversary!!  This year’s traditional gift is supposed to be cotton.  We shall see…

Quick update!

Hey guys!  I just wanted to throw out a quick update…it’s been a crazy week at work.  The consequences of getting a day off…right?!  But hey, totally worth it.

photo (2)

I taught a 30 minutes spin class Tuesday night and then hung around for an hour of Ripped Ride…I really needed that hour and a half of cardio after a long weekend filled with tailgating food, and they were both fun classes.

photo (44)Yesterday morning was so crazy that all I found for breakfast was a sugar cookie…of course I was starving all morning.  Thank goodness for my new batch of munchies for my “at-the-desk” snacks!  And yes, I keep 3 lb. dumbbells under my desk…ya just never know.

photo (46)Not crazy about the yogurt pretzels…they look better than they taste.  But I am completely obsessed with okra chips now.  Think I’ll try the green bean chips next!  Have you ever tried them?

photo (45)

My youngest brother and new sister-in-law.

They tied the knot yesterday in Tahoe, California.  My dad and stepmom are there.  I hated we couldn’t make the trip but dad was great about sending videos and pictures all day.

photo (43)Annnndddd this was the aftermath of 5:30 am Body Pump this morning!  I know what you’re thinking…dannnng she a dime!  But in all seriousness, I had a hard time in class.  #1–I was tired.  #2–I drank beer and split jalapeno poppers and a club sandwich with Matt last night.  #3–All I could think about was an appointment I had today at 9:30 and I couldn’t remember where or what for…I basically obsessed about it the entire hour.

I left thinking “was that even worth it?”  But I know it was.  At least somewhat.  My body will tell me later and I do feel more energized today.  I also knew I wouldn’t get a workout in tonight because we have dinner plans (ahh, the struggle…workout, food, workout, food).  So I plan to be at RPM tomorrow morning.  I say that…I need to remember that while we are at Mexican tonight.  NO MARGARITAS!!  🙂

Hope y’all are having an awesome Thursday!!

Fall can only mean one thing…

Family, Food, and Football!

Thursday marked the beginning of college football season for many South Carolinians.  But Saturday marked the beginning for me.  There aren’t a lot of things that I feel true passion for…I’m not exactly passionate about my job or stuff that you really want to feel passionate about.  But I am passionate about Georgia football.  I’m passionate about the SEC period.  Seriously, it’s a scientific fact…the SEC is the best in the country 🙂

“Why do you cheer for Georgia?  You went to college at Carolina…why would you not root for them?”  Okay…first of all, I didn’t go to Carolina.  I went to the University of South Carolina IN AIKEN.  Our mascot was a Pacer, not a Gamecock.  Second of all, there are UGA graduates in my family and I was born this way.  It wasn’t a choice I made one day…it’s in my blood and has been since day 1.  My dad has a “Georgia Room.”  The entire thing is covered in UGA stuff.  The carpet is red for goodness sake.  Now that we are clear on that, I just wanted to show you how intense the obsession with red and black has been in my life…

photo (40)

I’ll buy you a cheeseburger if you can pick me out…

photo (35)

Rockin’ those reverse-matching red & black pocket tees (and some cute little photobombers in the back)

photo (34)

Matt is his sexiest when I can get him into some UGA gear 😉

photo (41)

21st birthday spent at the “World’s Largest Cocktail Party…” the Georgia v. Florida game. My family had this banner hanging from the front of the motorhome.

photo (36)

I had to throw this one in there. See, I am nice to Matt sometimes.

photo (39) photo (42) photo (37) photo (38)

Friday night, we hit up our usual Mexican place…Chunky and I were decked out in our red and black.  That’s usually what I do on Fridays during football season.

photo

I woke up Saturday ready for war.

photo (19)

Unfortunately, my Dawgs didn’t pull off the W against the Clemson Tigers….got ’em by 3 points.  I actually wasn’t as mad about the loss as I thought I would be (the Mich Ultra helped).  Now next weekend is a whole different story.  The Georgia-Carolina rivalry is super intense and that is one game that generally no one can predict.  No matter how good or bad either teams have been playing, they both go in with some crazy mindset and end up looking like hot mess express all over the field.  Since they are playing in Athens, I’m hoping the at-home adrenaline will help the Dawgs pull it off.  We are going to Dusty and Tori’s to watch the game and all I can say is that I am requesting prayer.  Most people there will be Carolina fans.  Woosah, Logan…woosah.

Matt (the Tiger fan that he is) was really nice to me all night.  He never smarted-off or anything.  That is, until we woke up on Sunday.  I don’t know why he decided to give me hell the day after but he did.  (Oh, and big thanks to Presley and Ryne for having us over to watch the game.  Delicious eats and inappropriate conversations…as always!)

We actually just got home from Sumter.  Yesterday, we headed up there to spend some time with one of my best friends, his wife, and their little boy.

So, that’s what I’ve been up to all weekend.  We had such a great time.  Jax will be a year old in exactly one month!  We slept in the baby’s room.  He only woke up once early this morning so I found his paci and put him in the bed with us.  Whoops…baby fever is back.

Happy Labor Day, my friends!  Notice that I never mentioned working out in this post…you can read between the lines. Hope you have been able to take the day off and relax!!

Thursday thoughts.

photo (32)I couldn’t tell you one song Miranda Lambert sings but I can tell you that I love this quote.  I saw this on a friend’s Instagram yesterday and I had to nab it. Preach on, Miranda, preach on.  I am just not the type of girl to sacrifice my beer or chicken-fried steak either.  YOLO people…and yes, I did just say that. Don’t overdo it but damn, don’t make yourselves miserable.  I really don’t know why I brought this up.  I saw the quote and I know people that are way too miserable in life because they won’t indulge a little.  Like I said, YOLO.

photo (33)Damn you Miley, damn you.  Molly follows me everywhere now because of you. And yes, frugal Logan spent $10 on a car wash.  Look, my car was desperate, it was the only place around on my lunch break, and I get the hook-up all the time at the car wash.  Paying once won’t kill me…

On to more important things, I haven’t worked out since Tuesday.  My dad leaves for California tomorrow to go see my step-brother put a ring on it next week, so we spent some quality time together playing Golden Tee and knocking a few back.  I’ll sacrifice a workout for that time any day.  Especially when it’s with family.  I also won’t get a workout in tonight because I’ll be going to small group.  So it looks like I’ll be getting up for a 5:30 am class tomorrow!  (Side note: the link you may or may not have just clicked on has lost my pictures.  I don’t know what’s happened but if you choose to read the boring post without the pictures, I thank you.)

Oh, one other thing, my soul sister Presley  is looking for some running partners for the ZOOMA half in January.  The ZOOMA race was my first half and I absolutely loved it.  Lots of wine, champagne, snacks, massages, and recovery yoga afterwards.  This is totally the race for you.  Plus, Presley and I are a blast in a glass so we obviously had a great time.  Unfortunately, I won’t make it next year!  My step-brother (the one getting married) is also having a baby and they are due late January.  The race and their due date is just too close for comfort.  Matt and I are planning to get wind of the baby’s birth and hop on a plane to Texas the next weekend.  So, check out Presley’s blog for more ZOOMA info and a discount code for the race.  You won’t regret it!!

Honey Waffle.

I knew that title would grab your attention.  Yesterday, on my way to teach spin, I ate one of these for the first time…

honeyOh my goodness, did I love this or what?!  It was delicious!  This was the only flavor available at the store so I just bought one to try it out, but I’ll definitely be buying more.

Last night’s class was half spin and half TRX, so I only taught a 30 minute class. Here’s the playlist I used from an intense, quick warm-up to cool-down.  The very last song was just used as background noise as everyone was gearing up for TRX.  I like to do that with each playlist…I always have a song I play while everyone is getting set-up on the bikes and then I have an “extra” cool-down song at the end while everyone is leaving.  Basically, I just hate silence.

photo

Here’s a look at my view from the bike…this is only half of the room because I found out yesterday that I suck at taking panorama shots on my phone.

spinI also saw this new sign in the changing room at the gym and it put a big smile on my face before class…

scremWe had a fun class yesterday.  I’m looking forward to teaching Ripped Ride today.  Might even play that Wretches & Kings song by Linkin Park again…I’m hooked!  Be sure to check out the following pages for playlist ideas…I am trying to update them as often as possible.  I have so much music to go through!!

Sprints

Jump!

Climbs/Lifts

I thought about adding warm-up and cool-down music pages as well.  I hope these are helpful with your class planning! In all honesty, no matter what kind of workout you do, you can use this music.  I think they are all motivational, get-your-butt-in-gear kind of songs!
