How The Grinch Restored Christmas

Happy Friday, y’all.  We made it.  It has been a looooong week.  Guess we were spoiled by the holiday last week, huh? This morning, I was up and at ’em early for a Chamber breakfast.  There is a program or speaker each month and for December, the Chamber always promotes the importance of supporting non-profit organizations, especially during this time of year.  Today, the program was How The Grinch Restored Christmas.  Organizations such as Golden Harvest Food Bank and The Salvation Army all participated in telling us a wonderful Christmas story.

Stink, stank, stunk!

This was one sexy Grinch.  All of the participants did a wonderful job and it was a great way to start a Friday.  They told such a sweet story and it’s true…we really do need to remember that non-profits need our support more than ever.  I’m a firm believer in charitable giving.  I also believe you have to do your research on the organization first!

Anyway, I thought I would share some really random facts with you today. There is absolutely nothing substantial to read here so feel free to stop reading.

This is what my hair looks like if I don’t straighten it.

Cats, 1.  Water bottle, 0.  We reached a record in our household, though.  The tree skirt stayed down for 3 whole days this year!  We are usually lucky to have it down for 30 minutes before they start their decoration destruction.  I felt like a winning mom when I put the water bottle down in front of the tree skirt this year.  I thought I had found a sure-fire solution to our decoration destruction problem.  You made it 3 days, cat mom.  Good job.

My husband is a damn good cook.  He brought the Japanese to the house last night.  And by “brought,” I mean he actually made it.  Fresh veggies and all.  He even bought some Yum Yum Sauce.  You know, white sauce at the Japanese restaurant.  This could have been healthy…until I drowned it in Yum Yum.

And this is my cool new trivet.  I ordered this from a coworker’s kid.  I actually think I purchased this with the intent of gifting it but I realized it’s super cool and I need it.  We really do need more than one trivet.  Especially with all that cooking I do…

All the wine I drank in order to get these corks was well worth it.  See, start projects that need you to drink.  That’s the key…but drink responsibly.

Well, that’s a wrap for me today.  One of my very dear friends, Beth, gave birth to her second sweet baby girl this morning.  Emily weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and has a head full of curly dark hair.  I can’t wait to meet her after work today! Have a great Friday 🙂

Dancing with the Stars…

Friday is once again upon us.  And much to my delight, it’s a 3-day weekend for this girl!  I’ve already got a massage booked for Monday morning…I’m going to take full advantage of my extra day off.  So, here’s a fun Friday fact about Logan…I am participating in Dancing with the Aiken Stars this year.  It’s our town’s version of the obvious.  I was asked to participate in a group number and jumped on the opportunity.  I danced (ballet, tap, jazz, pointe) from the time I was 3 until about 21.  It has been a looooong time since I’ve been on stage so a little wine and possibly a mild tranquilizer will be necessary for pre-show prep. But hey, it’s all in fun and for a great cause…all of the proceeds from the night will be donated to the local Child Advocacy Center.  They really do so much for the lost and impoverished children in our community.

You will hear me talk about dance practice a lot in the future.  Six weeks to go and I wish I could say we are polishing the routine now, but nah.  Not yet.  We had practice last night at 8 pm.  Since I work in Aiken and practice was in Aiken, but I live 30 minutes away, I decided to work a little late, run 3 miles, and drink a couple beers with the dance crew before practice.  Hey, it helps us get a little more outgoing during practice…don’t judge me.  I didn’t get home until 10–I should seriously consider sleeping at the office and saving gas.

Tomorrow, I have a sweet little girl’s birthday party to attend and then I’m heading to Columbia with the girls.  So that means tonight is all about some QT with the hubby.  We’ll probably go to a nice restaurant and for a stroll downtown. Maybe even grab some chocolate covered strawberries for dessert and buy some flowers for the house.  OR I’ll just be honest and tell you that we will probably eat Mexican food, he will play Playstation, and I’ll watch the Miley Movement again and drink box wine (by the way, watch it if you haven’t…new respect for this girl–she can twerk all day if she wants in my book).

Y’all make this Friday awesome!!  And married people, or even dating people, what is a typical date like with your significant other?  And don’t fluff…we all know the truth 😉

Fun Facts Friday!!

For whatever reason, I woke up on the exceptionally happy side of the bed this morning, despite having to get up at 5:00 am for a Chamber breakfast.  Maybe if I treated working out in the mornings as seriously as my job, I would actually do it more often.

After our last gym staff meeting, our manager sent out a questionnaire that he asked us to answer and return to him.  I assume this info will be used on the gym’s website but I’m not quite sure yet.  Heck, he may have just wanted to know more about us 🙂  I thought I would share the questionnaire with you and the answers I provided…

Who are you?
My name is Logan.  I’m 25 years old and currently reside in North Augusta, SC with my husband Matt.  I work in the marketing department of a bank, where I have been employed for 5 years, and my husband works at Cintas.  We have no children but we do have 2 cats, Smokey and Cali (crazy cat lady at your service).
What do you do outside of Oxygen?
Besides my full-time marketing job, I also sell Mary Kay and I’m an amateur blogger.  I’m an Ambassador with the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce and I’m a member of the Aiken Young Professionals group.  I love UGA football and driving my Clemson-loving husband crazy.  My favorite way to spend my time is with family…period.  No matter what we’re doing, it’s always a good time.
3 adjectives that describe you?
Witty, personable, and hard-headed–I choose not to use the term “stubborn” because it sounds negative 🙂
What’s your favorite thing about Oxygen?
My favorite thing about Oxygen is how I have watched the gym grow over the past few years.  I also love that the gym is a studio and not a big-box gym.  We are a big family–instructors and clients alike!
If you were the star of a TV show, what would be your theme song?
I can’t help but freak out every time I hear the song Applause by Lady Gaga…but if I were a wrestler (not a TV star) and I could have my own “coming out” music, it would be The Next Episode by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Guilty Pleasure?
Definitely eating Mexican and drinking beer.  And I tend to stay up for hours watching Vine videos.
Favorite piece of Oxygen retail?
Definitely my over-sized white long-sleeve top by Alo…and the sparkly headbands are the
Who is your celebrity crush?
Bradley Cooper.  And Matt Lauer.  I can’t choose just one.

What is at the top of your bucket list?
Seeing the Northern Lights, meeting Matt Lauer, and seeing Lady Gaga and Adele in concert (just not at the same time)
What is in your gym bag?
Spin shoes, gum, chap stick, $2, and socks
Favorite move/pose in class?
My favorite thing to do on the bike is take the body back and low and hover over the saddle.  I take any chance I have to work on the booty!  In hot yoga, I love the Warrior II pose and trying to do the Tree poses.

Why don’t you take a stab at a few of these questions?  I would love to learn more about YOU!
Have a great Friday!
